Twitterpated!

Sep 07, 2008 by Susan | Add comment

That's what you think, Thumper...

So, SuperTosser Pamela G of Napa CA emailed me with a great idea:

Here's an idea: have someone Twitter your show from first call to curtain---like a mini transcript of what's happening on stage. Then we fans could sit and play along at home...I thought it up after years of seeing my hubby and son "watch" a British soccer game on the net. There's no picture, just updates every minute or so. My husband Sean would shout downstairs : "Yellow card to Resa!" or "Owen just scored"...I am going to be all ready to play their game now too: "Heidi just bit her tongue!"---" Susan has to pee!"

For you Luddites: Twitter is a free service that you can subscribe to--then we can send you messages to your phone, IM or on the web (depending on your preference).

So, last week I was sitting backstage minding my own bees-wax when I remembered Pamela's idea decided spontaneously to go for it and Twitter throughout the show! Sadly, in my haste, I did not inform Pamela. And I got this email:

I don't know whether to smile that you used my Twitter idea or stick my tongue out at you for not telling me you were going to do it!!! I missed reading it live! Booo! Still it was awesome (if I do say so myself).

Pamela, I LOVED your idea and I apologize for not giving you advance notice so that you could play along at home. Let's do this again and do it right, lady!

On the evening of Friday, September 12, 2008 beginning around 7pm EST, I'm going to provide play-by-play Twitter updates before, during and after the show. You can sign up for Twitter here. And experience the glory of [title of show] in real time!

DISCLAIMER: Standard texting rates apply. Twittering will only occur when I am offstage. If you are attending the show this Friday, September 12, DO NOT leave you cell phone on during the show--I'll come into the audience and personally escort you from the premises. To the dude in the 1st row of the mezzanine on August 31st who was checking his cell phone throughout the show...not cool, dude. No woodland creatures will be harmed during this Twitter event. This one goes out to Pamela G!

A couple blogs below I wrote:

Sometimes it's laundry day or clean the house day, only now that we are big Broadway stars, we have golden robots clean our houses...and by golden robots, I of course mean we all clean our own places. Maybe I'll hire a golden robot after we win all them Tony's! Wait...what have you heard? Too soon. But maybe we could fashion some sort of robot cleaner out of a Tony...kind of like a roomba but it has a Tony duct-taped to it. Awesome!

Then, this came in the mailbox form tosser Erin.

Good work. I love this Tonybot!

What y'all do on Wednesday?

Sep 03, 2008 by Hunter | Add comment
So as most of you know, [tos] has Wednesday off...or as they say in showbiz, "dark". We rock four shows on the weekend and then a Monday night (Funday night!) and Tuesday night as well. So with Wed. off, Tuesday night is our Friday night. Got it? Good. So what do we tossers do on our day off? Well, a lot of the day is catch up rest. 8 shows a week is awesome and takes some energy, so we nap. Sometimes we sneak out of the city to recharge or see a meevie or our pals in another fancy bway show. Also you got your Project Runway on...so, well there's that. Awesome!

Sometimes we blog, and catch up on facebooking and fan mail (we'll get to you! we promise!) and then sometimes the day is spent surfing the youtube where we find gems like this:

Classic.

Alright, time for that nap!

So our pal and tosser David has a kick ass fundraisin' site that we tossers were happy to help with. His Elephant Project is raising money to help fight Alzheimer's disease. You can go to his site and bid on our pics and eventually on our elephants we colored which will be featured in a book to be auctioned off as well. So check out Dave and bid on a [tos]ephant!
